Uruzgan Development Programme

We provided consulting services for AusAID on how to apply GIS techniques to make more informed programme decisions in Uruzgan, Afghanistan.

Uruzgan is one of the most remote and undeveloped of Afghanistan's 34 provinces. Its development challenges are formidable with education being particularly poor, especially for women, and access to health care is limited.

Over 40 per cent of the population lives over two hours from a health facility and less than 10 per cent of the population has access to safe drinking water. Alcis enabled the Australian Aid initiative to understand the extent of the problem by mapping key locations and population distribution.

In addition, Alcis provided consulting services for AusAID on how to apply GIS techniques to make more informed programme decisions in Uruzgan.
