We used predictive modelling tools to show simulations of flood events and the communities and roads that would be most affected and classifying them also.
Identify at risk population centres: In this scenario emergency planners needed to identify communities that were at greatest risk of being impacted by a flood event.
Alcis collected a range of data over the area of interest, this included satellite imagery, elevation models and infrastructure mapping. Using the elevation model, river catchment areas were identified and river profiles created.
Imagery was used to classify the land and identify the major urban areas. Using predictive modelling tools simulations of flood events were run and communities and roads that would be most affected were identified and classified.
These outputs form the basis of the planning packs.
